Thank you and Arigatou!

DSC00539My exhibition held at Bunkamura Wall Gallery was over. Thank you for everyone who came to my exhibition and who saw my drawings (faces) while waiting for their wives out of ladies or just before the play start came to see them and chatted with me, I really appreciated everyone. This time particularly old friends with who I have lost contact for a long time visited me.That was surprise but since it is not only one old friend who came to see me I understand it may be a beginning of our new relationship.Someone gave me opportunities to warm up old friendship and suggested me a new direction for me to go with them. Indeed holding exhibition means to offer a place for people to gather, that’s other role of exhibition, I think. See you again!!

DSC00524Bunkamura Wall Gallery

Before I actually display my pictures I visualise the completed display and most time my imagination and finish are as I imaged but there are cases they are different and I had to reduce numbers or add more. However, this time two persons in charge are so helpful and I am quite pleased with display. Thank you.

Preparation for exhibition

DSC00517Soon on Monday my small exhibition is to be held. It’s first exhibition after 3.11.My last exhibition at this place was January, 2011 and after 3.11, like many other artists, writers, musicians etc I did not find any meaning of what I was doing. I became nervous breakdown and for a few months I was like a patient in a cage always frightening something.Whenever I hold exhibition in order to select I lay my works on the living room floor as picture shows.Normally it does not take much to decide but sometimes after decision I may have some other imagination or two do not like to be displayed next to each other and so on.There are many things to consider after first decision. I am going to display 15 works this time and it took 4 days to complete. If you come and see them they will be extremely pleased!!!

Ueda Castle cheery-blossoms festival

DSC00415DSC00416

On 18th April I visited Ueda castle in Nagano pref. When I passed by the main gate two days before, cherry blossoms were at their best. Therefore, I was really looking forward to seeing them.

Colour of cherry blossoms slightly differs each year, more pinky or whiter depnding upon the weather.Cherry blossoms at the main gate were so beautiful and I am fascinated with them.

When I went further into the castle I was quite disappointed to find out  a long chain of stalls along the moat. The other side of the stalls is full of cherry trees.

Stalls might be usual sight for local people at local festivals. However, I’d be pleased if you oculd consider what real OMOTENASHI means.

A young man from Burmuda

I met a young man in bullet train to Osaka. He is from Burmuda and here in Japan to see cherry-blossoms.It is a long way to come over here, 2 hours to U.S., 6 hours waiting for transit and another 14 hours flying.Thank you for coming far away.

Just before my departure I heard a news that Zoheikyoku(mint bureau) opens its cherry blossoms tunnel of 700 metres long from 11th this month to public.I guess what he has seen are, say single cherry blossoms but those of Zoheikyoku are double blossoms and nothing but gorgeous. I recommended to go and I am sure he will enjoy them, too.

For lunch he bought Makunouchi bento (lunch box)and made sure what he was eating. He even learned minimum necessary Japanese phrases before his departure. He seemed to enjoy every minutes. I am very much impressed.

Candle Spin by Sumo wrestler

Today is the last day of Sumo.Usually I am not so keen on Sumo but this time is different. One of the most popular wrestlers Endo’s stable is near from where I live. He was Univ champion and as he so quickly has gone up the steps his hair is not long enough to arrange him as that of Sumo wrestlers formal hair style.Sumo matches are interesting of course but I’m more interested in ceremonial processes to matches.Every rikishi(wrestlers) has more or less habit before match. You will see them when you observe 15 days. What I particularly recommend is Endo’s Shiko (leg stomps). You can see his right and left legs are almost straight, that means he put his leg so high and straight.I call this “Candle Spin”.If you remember a Russian figure skater at Sochi made a spin straight like candle. I love to watch this candle spin.

I like to learn English

I like to learn English. Not only English I like to learn foreign languages. To learn one language means to learn culture and so on where the language is spoken. To learn one languages means to know one other world. Languages I studied are English, French, Italian and Korean and if i studied well I am supposed to have 4 other worlds. It is regret to say among these foreign language I can only utilize English yet I believe I have 4 different worlds. The reason I studied Italian was that I had difficulty not be able to speak Italian in Italy, but ended my study to find that I can cover the difficulty by using French. About Korean, when I was working in a foreign bank Korea is our business territory to cover. When I rang bak or company they hang up if I do not pronounce properly Korean names. Now study Korean when I feel like doing. I am certain that you will have more opportunity to help or enjoy English!!!
